Established in 1977, Bophuthatswana Broadcasting Corporation was home to the legendary Radio Bop, Radio Mmabatho, Radio Sunshine, Bop TV, and Mmabatho TV, creating a vibrant platform for quality broadcasting. This Broadcasting Mecca produced iconic broadcasters who have left an indelible mark on the media landscape, some of whom are still leading the way in different platform across Africa and in the Diaspora. However, in 1994, this institution was unceremoniously shut down for political expediency, silencing minds, voices and faces that represented Black excellence in broadcasting.

In 2024, this institution was resurrected rebranded as Bop Broadcasting Corporation under private ownership and the control of AGT Media Group, reigniting the mission to keep that legacy of Black Excellence in Broadcasting Alive. This revival has allowed us to embrace modern technological advancements while remaining true to our commitment to delivering quality content the same way it was done in the past. We have returned to the forefront of broadcasting and we are doing it better and having a far much wider and better coverage, offering unique, authentic, through-provoking and engaging broadcasting that resonate deeply with our audiences.

We have established a Broadcasting Academy to continue producing talented broadcasters, bringing a distinctive flair that captures the essence of our people development, empowerment and sustenance.
